This year marks the ninth year of our Parent’s Morning Out Program. This ministry has touch the lives of innumerable parents and children in our community. Parents looking for a welcoming, safe and loving environment have found it here at Epiphany. Operating Tuesday and Thursday each week it is a program that allows parents of young children the opportunity to have their children cared for while they run errands, go to appointments, work and in some cases get a little respite and relaxation. The program is by reservation but we find that many of our children are with us each week both days.

Amye Webb runs this program with a wonderful group of volunteers made up of congregation members and parents of children in the program. For most of the children this is their first social experience outside of their families. For some of our parents this is the first time they leave their children with caregivers that are not a part of their immediate circle of family and friends. Tears are shed by children and parents alike but the tears quickly turn to squeals of delight and sounds of happy parents as they all learn that it will be okay. Parents and children alike find peace, love and a sense of comfort within our church walls and friendships are formed by both the children and adults who participate in the program.

We can’t say thank you enough to all of the volunteers in this program. They give of themselves selflessly. Mother Teresa once said, “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” These women put so much love into all they do. They love the children with their whole hearts, support and minister to the parents and share their spirit with fellow volunteers.

We are always looking for new friends to join us in this ministry. The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these families is so rewarding. No prior experience is necessary, volunteers can work as much or as little as they wish. If the spirit moves you to think about joining us please call us at 770-679-1346 or stop by any Tuesday or Thursday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to visit with our staff and children. If you are the parent of a young child or know of a friend or relative who might benefit from this ministry, please share our telephone number with them as well.

We appreciate the support of the congregation and look forward to many more years of service through this community ministry.

Real Kids Academy

WE have completed another SUCCESSFUL YEAR. Our success is not measured by the number of kids enrolled but the number of kids showing improvement academically. We successfully completed the 2015-2016 school year with 25 kids being promoted to the next grade. It has been a great year for Real Kids Academy (RKA). Enrollment has not grown from last year. We currently serve a total of 25 students from one Rockdale County elementary school and one middle school. We currently have 4 employees on staff; 1 director, 1 certified teacher, 1 assistants and 1 driver. Through our partnership with Epiphany, we’ve been able to maintain an optimum student/teacher ratio to maximize learning.

We remained true to our core mission to offer parents a childcare environment that is nurturing and loving, while providing homework assistance. RKA assists kids with homework while helping them develop study skills. We offer incentive programs that reward the students for achieving progressive learning targets.

We are so excited that RKA is more than just an afterschool program. We are FAMILY and are proud to be an extension of the Epiphany church family. Together we will continue to make a powerful impact in our community, one child at a time.

If you would like to come and visit, our hours of operation are 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Monday- Friday. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 770-369-5649.
