Youth

Youth ministry at Epiphany offers activities and groups for all ages of youth, beginning at birth and extending through high school. Groups generally meet from September through May, following the school calendar.   We are blessed to have many gifted and committed volunteers to lead and support our ministries with youth and children.  See our Calendar link for more information on specific meeting dates and times.

PALs (Parents and Little Lutherans) Birth – Preschool

PALs meets monthly for fun and fellowship, with families who have any child who is not yet of Kindergarten age (older brothers and sisters are always welcome).   See our Calendar link for more information on specific meeting dates and times.

LCK’s (Little Christ Kids) K – Grade 2

LCK’s meets monthly, usually on the 2nd Sunday, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM.

During the school year, we have tried to have separate events.  However, due to the lack of a critical mass of children in J.C.Kids or LCK’s, we have continued to hold joint events.  See our Calendar link for more information on specific meeting dates and times.

J.C. Kids (Jesus Christ Kids) Grades 3 – 5

J.C.Kids meets monthly, usually on the 2nd Sunday, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM.  This group uses the same format as the LCK’s.   See our Calendar link for more information on specific meeting dates and times.

J.F.J.’s (Juniors for Jesus) Grades 6 – 8

J.F.J.’s meet on the 2nd and Sundays of each month from 1:30 – 3:00 PM and at other times as scheduled.   Their events focus on building relationships with each other, in a Christ–centered environment.    See our Calendar link for more information on specific meeting dates and times.

E.Y.E. on Christ (Exceptional Youth of Epiphany) Grades 9 – 12

EYE meets approximately every other week for fellowship, service, learning and spiritual growth opportunities.  They usually meet at the church on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, in addition to regular outings and trips away from the church.  See our Calendar link for more information on specific meeting dates and times.

Some Highlights

Youth Led Worship:  Our youth have been involved in worship in a variety of ways – from being acolytes to ushers to assisting ministers.

Rally Day: Our kick off for the 2009-10 school year was a fun day of celebrating our baptisms.  From water events to music to devotions to playing in a inflatable jumper and water slide, we had a terrific day filled with reminders of how we are claimed in the waters of our baptisms!

Youth Dinners:  Chef Drema Shuler is truly our star in the kitchen, and searched for by many young people on the 2nd Sunday of each month, when she coordinates our All Youth Dinners.  Families are welcomed following the 11:00 a.m. service on these days to gather for lunch, before choir and youth group activities.

Campfirmation:  Our confirmation students traveled to Lutheridge again, to join youth from 4 other congregations.  They spent a week learning, exploring nature and developing their knowledge and faith in Christ.

We give thanks to God for the many volunteers and leaders who make possible these and other ministries with the youth and children of our congregation.  They truly are bringing Christ into the lives of our young people and giving our families opportunities to grow in their faith lives together.
