News
Due to the recent tragedy in Haiti, we continue to support and solicit support for this very important ministry. We have several people who are currently in Haiti.
Epiphany’s Servant Journey Team (Lonnie, Doug, Bill Wallace, Pastor Nathan) departed March 2 and are expected to return March 9.
The news from Haiti is reassuring. The team that left the U.S. last Tuesday arrived safely in the Dominican Republic, drove over the border, and into the northern part of the country. Though there are many refugees from Port-au-Prince, things are stable and safe. You can continue to get updates from the mission site we’ll be serving at, Ranquitte, Haiti, at http://www.christianflights.org/
The ELCA has set up a donation website at www.elca.org/haitiearthquake or if you prefer, you can call and make a donation at 1-800-638-3352, or mail a check to: ELCA Disaster Response, 39330 Treasury Center, Chicago, IL
60694-9300.
There are a good many organizations who are accepting donations. One of the advantages of giving directly to the ELCA is that 95% of the donation goes directly to the relief effort. They have one of the lowest overhead records, if not the lowest, of any major organization.
Hunger Walk Atlanta – March 14, 2010
Get on board with our youth for the Hunger Walk Atlanta – 2010 event! We will be walking again on Sunday, March 14th. We would love to have you join us on the walk (it’s a lot of fun!). We will carpool from the church immediately following the 11:00 AM worship service. Our church made history again in 2009 by being in the top 10 in donations (Epiphany placed 9th), and we would like to keep that trend going again this year. If we raise our goal of $3,000 (or more) this year, Pastor John and Pastor Nathan have agreed to perform together at our Talent Show on March 21st. See them as you have never seen them before and maybe never will want to again!! All donations go to feed hungry children and adults in Atlanta. Please prayerfully consider donating to this cause and to help fullfill our pastors challenge! You may make a donation between services, pick up an envelope to start collecting your donations, or you may donate to Epiphany’s Team directly on-line at http://bit.ly/epiphanyhungerwalk. Help feed people and reflect the discipleship of our church as we strive to do even better this year! Thank You…Barbara Drasher
Our Sunday School United can drive collection for 2010 is growing strong! During Lent, for the month of March, we will focus on sharing foods we have given up for Lent. Have you chosen to not eat something for lent this year? Why not share that food with those less fortunate. You can clean out your pantry of that type food and we will donate it to the Rockdale Communnity Food Bank. Each class will continue to collect cans during Sunday School and we will see how high we can pile our spaghetti! Let’s all work together to see if we can fill a HUGE box to help our community. Look for the box in the breezeway. Items needed most at this time of the year are: Spaghetti sauce and pasta, soups, grits and oatmeal, canned salmon, canned chili, and canned fruits.
