Parent’s Morning Out
We care for more small babies this year! we could use two more rocking chairs and volunteers to sit in them! We are using at least 10 of the high chairs donated in the past at each lunch. We need at least 8 pairs of hands to meet this daunting task! Please contact Karen Schroeder at 770-922-8335 if you can contribute toward a rocker, or donate some time on either a Tuesday or Thursday.

Fellowship
2011 saw 3000+ meals served and 2000+ Sunday morning helpings of coffee & donuts set out. Fellowship would like to thank all of you who have willingly contributed all or some portion of the suggested $3.00/meal and/or $1.00/coffee & donut throughout the year to enable this ministry to continue. There is a budget line item of $1500.00 for Fellowship activities for the year. However, the majority of the costs are born by the contributions of the congregation.
Thank you also to those who contribute food for the various potluck functions that are held. Throughout Advent we had soup and sandwich meals, and no one went home hungry! The number of persons attending the worship service increased. On each of those four evenings there was a greater attendance at the “feed your soul” than the “feed your body” portion of the evening.
2012 started out with the GROW meal and class. Then, on Epiphany night the chili and cornbread. This is an invaluable service as it causes communion between congregants over a simple meal.
Keep your eyes and ears tuned as more announcements are made!
The committee will meet again on February 6 at 7:00 pm.

EVANGELISM/CARING AND SHARING TOGETHER (C.A.S.T.)
Why do think we have such a hard time thinking about sharing our faih wih others? Are we really aware of what we believe about Jesus, God, and our faith? It can be as simple as smiling at the stranger that comes to a church service. It can just be a little time spent with a person who needs a listening ear. It could be the good feeling you get when you watch the little children’s smiling faces while they are in either preschool or parents’ morning out. Each one of us has the ability to welcome other as Christ welcomes us. We do not need to have a thoeological degree to share the faith the Holy Spirit has given us. Pastor John metnioned in a recent sermon the song “This little light of mine.” Each one of us grew up singing that song, and each one of us CAN do it each day of our life. God has called us to “CARE AND SHARE TOGETHER”, our evangelistic motto. I hope we can become comfortable with the word EVANGELISM and do it as easiy as we take a daily breath.
We are happy to have a very good group of people involved. They are: Pete Mecca, Doug Longbottom, David Patrick, Joy Hanson, Melinda Sponder, Julie Sisson, Barb Drasher, Pastor John and me.
When we talked about what we thought the word evangelism says to us we came up with a phrase we would like to use in our relating to one another. It is Caring and Sharing Together.
A lot of us have moved around some in our lives and we find it a little easier to speak to people we do not know than those of us who have not had that opportunity. I am reading a book by Barbara Brown Taylor that speaks to that. She mentions that the more we are strangers in new places the easier it is for us to see and reach out to others in that same situation.
If you see someone you have not met before or who looks like they are a little lost would you reach out to them with a smile or handshake? I believe that we think we are a very friendly congregation and we are in some ways.
It would be great if everyone that comes to our church felt welcomed with a warm “hello” and smile.
I think this is also a way of sharing in the stewardship of our faith.
Thank you,
Centering Prayer Group
If you’ve ever been interested in or felt called to meditative, contemplative forms of Christian prayer, please join us for Centering Prayer. Centering Prayer is drawn from the early Christian monastic prayer traditions of the Desert Mothers and Fathers and involves inviting a direct relationship with God through quieting ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually and simply consenting to and resting in God’s presence. Please join us at the Retreat House of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit on GA Hwy 212 February 7 at 6:30 pm. We will gather in the lobby. Everyone is welcome. Hope to see you there. Contact Travis Bryan, 770.860.9710 with any questions. We look forward to seeing you.
