RELAY FOR LIFE KICK-OFF EVENT!

HOLY ROLLER DERBY DAY

We, at Epiphany know too many people fighting cancer. We pray for numerous people daily in their war against this disease.  Now we have a chance to make a difference. Join us in our campaign to eradicate these diseases and bring hope.

Our kickoff event will be a roller derby in the church parking lot on October 15th at 1:00 PM.

Step 1:  Collect pledges per lap until the event starts. Or you can ask for a flat donation amount.

Step 2: Bring your bike, skates, scooter, wagon, stroller, wheelbarrow, or chariot; literally ANYTHING with wheels and go around our course as many times as you can!  Got a kid that can’t ride a bike? That’s ok!! Whatever means you can do – do it!

Step 3: Collect your pledges based on the number of laps completed.  Make donor checks payable to yourself and then you may pay by cash or check made out to Epiphany Lutheran; memo: Relay for Life.

Habitat Interfaith Consortium of Rockdale (HICOR)

This is an association of local churches supporting the mission of Habitat for Humanity. They continue to work on houses and are always in need of help.

Card Ministry

Sends sympathy and get well cards to members of our congregation.

Lutheran Services of GA

Each year at Easter and Christmas we get a list of children from Lutheran Services of Georgia and we provide Easter outfits and Christmas gifts. In 2016 we provided 30 outfits for Easter and we gave 2 gifts each to 30 children for Christmas.

Rockdale Emergency Relief

We provide food and clothes collected from the congregation on an ongoing basis.

Servants of the Lord/Meals on Wheels

This ministry provides meals to over 200 families in the Rockdale and Newton area. Several area churches contribute funding and volunteers. In 2016 we served on the first 2 Saturdays of each month, except in July when the program takes a break. Our route consists of 6 homes.

Back Pack Buddies

This program supplies food to chronically hungry children for their weekend meals. The children are screened by the school counselor and then permission slips are signed and the children pick up the food when they leave school on Friday. We served 10 children at Live Oak Elementary and 10 Children at South Salem Elementary.

Elks Aidemore

We had an Easter Egg Hunt for 16 girls in 2016. We hid over 200 eggs and had candy and prizes in each egg.

Family Promise

We hosted Family Promise until it recently is temporarily suspended. We hosted the families for a week at a time and provided a place to sleep and an evening meal. The Social Ministry Team provided one of these meals and other church volunteers provided the others. Church volunteers also signed up to spend the night and to provide an evening social time for the families.

Lutheran Day of Service

Social Ministry partnered with the youth to clean up the grounds and the offices at the Refuge Pregnancy Center in Conyers.
