WEDNESDAY EVENING ADVENT SERVICE

December 13th

We will begin this evening at 6:00 PM with a soup and sandwich supper in the fellowship hall.  Then at 7:00 PM we will worship together in the Sanctuary.  We will be using the Holden Evening Prayer Service. The groups who will host our meal this evening are Men’s Bible Study, Prayer Ministry and Choirs.

Please plan to join us!

We will convene on Sunday, December 10th immediately following the 10:00 AM performance of “A Ceremony of Carols” presented by the choirs and soloists of Epiphany Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church, Covington.

We will be electing 6 new council members, reviewing and approving our 2018 Budget and other business.   Please plan to attend!

This past Monday we met with Wayne Fell, the Director of Evangelism and Mission with the Southeastern Synod, to discuss the possibility of partnering with 5-10 other ELCA Lutheran churches to listen to God, listen to each other, and listen to our community, in an effort to re-vitalize our ministry.
But we need the vote of the congregation to move forward with this process.
Please read over these two documents before the congregational meeting this Sunday, December 10th to understand from a general overview the program and the commitment involved.  We will have a short presentation at the meeting with a time for questions before we ask for a vote from the congregation.
This is an exciting opportunity to explore together what God has in store for us and who we might be a part of it.
In Christ,
Pastor David Armstrong-Reiner

The Chapel Choir of Epiphany Lutheran Church
&
The Chancel Choir of
First Presbyterian Church, Covington present an annual Christmas Concert

Sunday, December 10th at 10:00AM at Epiphany Lutheran Church

With Holy Communion

Ceremony of Carols is a festive collection of poems set to music by Benjamin Britten, a British composer, in 1941. Britten wrote this piece as a kind of retreat from the horrors of the World War, especially the ravages that befell his country. It was originally composed for a three-part treble choir of trained children’s singers. The poetry was written in Early English, Middle English, and Modern English. It tells the story of the coming of the Savior in many terms other than the usual story. The music is simple and childlike, although its sound is clearly British. The work is accompanied by solo harp, a first occurrence at Epiphany.
